This diploma is organised and certified by the well established Permaculture association in the U.K, and it is the path that I took myself.
While I had the online support of a very experienced tutor in the U.K, being based in Ireland meant that I missed the face to face contact and network participation that I believe helps to accelerate learning and the effectiveness of applying permaculture design together with others.
So that's what I'd like to begin to provide for any of you here in Ireland who are interested in following further study in Permaculture.
Following on from a 72 hour Permaculture design course, which in all reality can only ever be an introduction to the many faces of Permaculture and the design processes involved, the diploma gives you the opportunity to explore further those fields which interest you most and design some real changes in your environment and in our world.
What are the benefits of doing this diploma?
Well, it's unusual in the sense that it's 'self directed learning', meaning that you can design yours to suit your circumstances, and what you want and need to get out of it. So every diploma journey is unique.
You'll start to think about what you'd like to achieve and then form steps, which must include doing ten Permaculture designs, to bring you there. Maybe you want to focus on alternative farming solutions, or design yourself an ethical livelihood, bring permaculture to the school curriculum or your workplace, retrofit your home to be more energy efficient, design co-operative food or financial systems...etc etc,
